Abstract: An overview is provided of the Iranian fauna of cleptoparastic bee species in the genusSphecodesLatreille (Halictinae: Halictini: Sphecodina). In total, 25 species are recorded from Iran, eight of which are newly recorded for the country:SphecodesanatolicusWarncke, 1992,S.croaticusMeyer, 1922,S.haladaiWarncke, 1992,S.pectoralisMorawitz, 1876,S.rubicundusHagens, 1875,S.rufiventris(Panzer, 1798),S.saxicolusWarncke, 1992, andS.tadschicusBlüthgen, 1935. A new speciesS.ebmeriAstafurova & Proshchalykin,sp. n.(Mazandaran) is described and illustrated. For many species ofSphecodesthe distribution data within Iran are enlarged.
